How Do I Apply for an Advance?
Advances are not available to all artists. SoSouth conducts an internal audit of your catalog and revenue history to determine eligibility and the advance amount.
To be considered for an advance, you must be an active SoSouth distribution client. There is no public application — advances are discussed directly with your SoSouth representative when the timing and circumstances are appropriate.
Before any advance is offered, SoSouth performs an internal audit of your catalog performance, streaming revenue, release history, and projected earnings. The advance amount is determined based on that audit — not a fixed rate or tier. This ensures the amount offered reflects what your catalog can realistically recoup.
If an advance is extended, the terms — including the recoupment structure and any adjusted royalty split during the repayment period — will be clearly outlined in a written agreement before anything is finalized.
