Sync Licensing

How Much Does Sync Licensing Pay?

Sync fees vary widely based on the type of placement, how prominently the music is featured, the media type, and the territory. There is no fixed rate — every deal is negotiated.

Sync licensing does not have a standard rate. Every placement is negotiated individually based on a set of factors: the type of media (national TV ad vs. independent short film), how the music is used (featured vs. background), the duration of use, the territory (domestic, international, or worldwide), and the term (one-time use vs. in perpetuity).

In addition to the upfront placement fee, performance royalties are generated each time the synced content airs or is streamed. These are collected separately through your PRO and can accumulate significantly over time for content with wide distribution.
